Acceptable use
Last updated 9 September 2026
This policy forms part of the terms of service. It sets out what the service may be used for and, just as importantly, the things it deliberately does not do.
What it is for
Working out, from measurements you take yourself, how much clearance is left at each narrowest point along a route inside a building, which point stops an item, and whether carrying it flat, on its side or upright gets it through.
That is the whole of it. Everything below is outside it.
Questions this service will not answer
- How big is a particular product? No product dimensions are held here — no brands, no model numbers, no sizes. Take the numbers from the retailer’s own specification, and take the packed size rather than the unpacked one.
- Which item should I buy instead? Nothing is recommended, compared or linked to. There are no shopping links anywhere on this site.
- Can I take the door frame off? No advice is given on removing a door frame, an architrave, a bannister, a handrail, a window or any part of a wall, or on lifting anything in from outside through a window, a balcony or a roof. Where a description mentions any of those, the tool stops and produces no reading at all.
- Will the floor take it? No structural, load-bearing or safety judgement of any kind is made — not about floors, joists, stairs, balconies, railings or fixings.
- How should we lift it? No handling advice is given: not how to lift, not how many people are needed, not how to carry or set something down. Those are matters of personal safety and they belong with a qualified person, not with a measurement.
- Who should I get to move it? No removal firm is recommended, quoted for or introduced.
These are not gaps waiting to be filled. They are the boundary of what a clearance calculation can honestly say.
Settings this service must not be relied on in
A reading is a geometric calculation from numbers you supplied. It must not be used as the basis for a decision in any of the following:
- Medical, clinical or care decisions
- Legal advice or the conduct of legal proceedings
- Financial, insurance, credit or lending decisions
- Safety-critical work of any kind, including access, egress and evacuation planning
- Employment, recruitment or performance decisions
- Housing allocation or tenancy decisions
- Judicial, law-enforcement or immigration decisions
If a wrong answer would put someone at risk or would be hard to undo, have the route surveyed by someone qualified instead.
How you must not use it
- Anything unlawful, or anything intended to harm, harass or defraud another person.
- Scraping, bulk automated querying, or attempting to extract, copy or resell the measuring guidance or the calculations.
- Reverse engineering, probing for vulnerabilities, or interfering with other people’s use.
- Sharing an account, or reselling access to it.
- Presenting a reading as a professional survey, a structural assessment or a guarantee.
- Uploading anything: there is no upload channel on this service and there will not be one.
Legal and export restrictions
The service is available worldwide, and prices are in US dollars. You must not use it where doing so would breach a law that applies to you, or where you or your country is subject to sanctions or export controls that prohibit it. You are responsible for compliance with the law where you are.
If this policy is broken
We may suspend or close an account. Where we do, we tell you why, and we refund any period paid for and not used unless the breach was deliberate and serious. Anything unlawful may be reported to the relevant authority.
If you think something here has been applied wrongly to you, write to support@sparklingen.shop and a person will look at it.
